    10-day Beijing-Shanghai & Yangtze Cruise

     

    City: Beijing-Chongqing-Yangtze River-Shanghai

     

    Day 1 (Sun): Depart Canada
    Your journey begins with the overnight transpacific flight. Cross the International Date Line.
     

     

    Day 2 (Mon): Arrive Beijing
    Upon arrival, meet our guide and transfer to the hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure to explore.
     

     

    Day 3 (Tue): Beijing (BL)
    We drive 70km northwest of the city for a full-day excursion to the Great Wall, the world's longest man-made structure. Then, visit the underground palace of Ming Tombs. On the way back we tour exterior of the "Bird’s Nest" and “Water Cube” where hosted the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. 
     

     

    Day 4 (Wed): Beijing (B)
    Free day.
    Our suggested-list:
    Temple of Heaven to see and join in the local residents’ morning exercise; Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City, Silk Alley, Wangfujing Street, Panjiayuan Dirt Market; Peking Duck; Beijing Opera; Kung Fu Show; Lao She Tea House.
     

     

    Day 5 (Thu): Beijing-Chongqing-Yangtze Cruise (BL)
    Morning Hutong tour by rickshaw or bike, visit local residents’ home, learn dumpling cooking and have dumpling food lunch with local family.
    Afternoon fly to Chongqing, board Yangtze River Cruise in the evening.

    Day 6 (Fri): Yangtze Cruise (BLD)
    At 6,380km the Yangtze is the longest river in China and the third longest in the world after the Nile and the Amazon. The most impressive section of the Yangtze is the Three Gorges. Today's shore excursion features Shibaozhai (Stone Treasure Fortress), an ancient wooden pagoda built against rock cliffs facing the Yangtze.

     

    Day 7 (Sat): Yangtze Cruise (BLD)
    Admire nature's grandeur while sailing through spectacular Qutang Gorge (8km) and Wu Gorge (44km) today. Later this morning we navigate Shennong Stream on a small vessel. Originating in the southern slopes of Shennongjia Nature Reserve, the crystal clear river twists and turns 60 kilometers through forested mountains before emptying into the mighty Yangtze. 

     

    Day 8 (Sun): Yangtze Cruise-Yichang-Shanghai (B)
    The ship enters the eastern section of Xiling Gorge (66km) in the morning. We tour the site of the Three Gorges Dam.
    We disembark in Yichang around noon. Fly to Shanghai from Yichang or Wuhan.

    Day 9 (Mon): Shanghai (B)
    Free day.
    Our suggested-list:
    The Bund, Yuyuan Garden, Town-God Temple bazaar; Pudong New District, Maglev train ride; Nanjing Road or Xin Tian Di Shopping Complex; Huangpu River Night Cruise.
     

     

    Day 10 (Tue): Shanghai-Home (B)
    Bid farewell as we transfer you to the airport for your return flight to Canada.

     

    Notes:
    - City transport: tour coach, public transit, bike, Pedi cab, on foot;
    - B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner, SD=Special Dinner;
    - Some of the breakfasts are Chinese style;
    - Accommodation: hotel, hostel, soft-sleeper train, 4* cruise-ship (if applicable).

    Remarks:
    • Full package may change due to the adjustment of international airfare, airport tax and fuel surcharge;
    • For traveling with Air Canada, once seat availability is confirmed, clients must have their tickets issued before the deadline set by the airline;
    • Child Rate (2-11 yrs): 80% of the adult fare sharing room with 2 adults, no extra bed.
