    16-day Experience of China

     

    City: Beijing-Chengdu-Huanglong/Jiuzhaigou-Mt. Emei/Leshan-Zhangjiajie-Shanghai

     

     

     

    Day 01: Depart Canada
    Start your tour by boarding an overnight flight to Beijing. Cross the International Date Line.

     

    Day 02: Arrival Beijing (D)
    Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is at your leisure to explore this city once known as Peking to Westerns.
    Accommodation: Qianmen Jianguo Hotel * * * * (or similar)

     

    Day 03: Beijing (BLD)
    Beijing once served as the capital for 5 dynasties over 800 years in ancient China. Your first stop is the Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world. From there you enter the Forbidden City through the Tian'anmen Gate to explore the 250-acre complex of palaces, pavilions, courtyards and gardens, containing 9,999 rooms.
    You are specially arranged with a visit to the Treasure House where stores rare and valuable collection of ancient art works inside the Forbidden City. Afternoon we visit to the Summer Palace, a royal resort during the Qing Dynasty. A delicious Peking Duck dinner is arranged to top off your first-day tour.

     

    Day 04: Beijing (BLD)
    We drive 70 Km north of Beijing to the Great Wall to see the wonder of it. Then visit the Ming Tombs and the Sacred Path - 13 of the 16 Ming emperors have their lavish tombs here.
    On the way back we tour the "Bird’s Nest" (Beijing National Stadium) and “Water Cube” (Beijing National Aquatics Center) where hosted the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Kung Fu Show at night.

     

    Day 05: Beijing-Chengdu (BLD)
    Tour the Temple of Heaven in the morning,
    After lunch we tour Beijing Hutong by rickshaw to see traditional residential courtyards and visit Gongwang Fu (the Gongwang Mansion), one of the largest quadrangles in the world, and one of the best preserved royal palaces which have existed from Qing Dynasty so far.
    Late afternoon fly to Chengdu.

    Day 06: Chengdu-Huanglong (BLD)
    Morning flight to Huanglong, a fairyland famed for its natural wonders in terms of colorful waters. Spend the rest of the day to explore Huanglong. Evening we drive through the mountains to Jiuzhaigou.

    Day 07: Jiuzhaigou (BLD)
    We spend the whole day for sightseeing in Jiuzhaigou Valley.

     

    Day 08: Jiuzhaigou (BLD)
    We spend another whole day for sightseeing in Jiuzhaigou.

     

    Day 09: Jiuzhaigou-Chengdu (BLD)
    Morning fly back to Chengdu, and proceed to visit to the Sanxingdui (Three star mounds) Culture Museum built on the archaeological site of the discovery of Bronze Age, located about 40km west of Chengdu. The Sanxingdui site, first chanced upon by a farmer in 1929, continues to surprise the archaeological community in the decades to come. In 1986, two major sacrificial pits were discovered and the breakthrough aroused widespread academic attention from around the world. The Sanxingdui finds are exciting, but they remain enigmatic as so far no written records of this 5,000-year-old civilization have been found. Afternoon, we tour the Dujiangyan Irrigation System.

    Day 10: Chengdu-Leshan-Mt. Emei (BLD)
    We drive 180km (about 2.5 hours) to visit the Leshan Giant Buddha scenic area, which covers 2.5 square kilometers, is famous for its Giant Buddha statue, said to be the biggest Buddha statue in the world. The way in which the cultural features have been integrated with the natural scenery is considered to be a precious legacy. The Giant Buddha statue, carved on the mountain, stands 71m high, with its back against Jiuding Mountain and facing the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi rivers. There are more than 90 stone carvings and Buddhist shrines on both sides of the Giant Buddha.
    Then we drive to Mt. Emei and stay in the city or at the foot of the mountain.

     

    Day 11: Mt. Emei-Chengdu (BLD) 
    Emei Mountain - located south of Chengdu of Sichuan Province, it has a history as recorded for over 2,000 years, during which rich Buddhist cultural heritage has accumulated. Mt. Emei is one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. The patron bodhisattva of Emei is Samantabhadra, known as Puxian.
    Early morning, we take cable car up to the mountain - atop the
    Golden Summit, 3,099 meters high, one can enjoy the sunrise, seas of clouds, the Buddha's halo and the sunset glow; on Sheshen Cliff, you will have a bird’s view of the beautiful scenery of the vast plains stretching in west Sichuan. Then we take cable car descending the mountain. Drive back to Chengdu.

    Day 12: Chengdu-Zhangjiajie (BLD)
    In the morning we visit Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding and Research Base where the Giant Panda Museum graphically details the panda reproductive problems, and there is a large breeding ground at the site. Then we visit Wuhou Temple and Old Street. Evening flight to Zhangjiajie.

    Day 13: Zhangjiajie (BLD)
    Today we tour the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park - World Natural Heritage (World Geo-park), including Jin Bian Xi (Golden Whip Stream Canyon) scenic area, and Huang Shi Zhai (Yellow-Stone Stronghold) scenic area; view Tian Men Mountain and Tian Men Gate.
    Accommodation: Kaitan international Hotel * * * * in the heart of Wu Ling Yian (or similar)

     

    Day 14: Zhangjiajie (BLD)
    The sightseeing in Wulingyuan includes the world wonder - 'Peak-forests' that are structured by pillar-peaks arraying in the Tianzi (Son of Heaven) Mountain, including sceneries of Stone Boat on the Sea , Tianzi Gazebo, Yunqing Rock Gazebo, 1000-year Turtle-king Fossil, Heart Test Stone, Tianzi Pavilion, West Sea sandstone forest, Tian Tai Stage, Shentang Bay, Fairy Presents Flowers, Yubi (Imperial Brush Pen) Peaks.

     

    Day 15: Zhangjiajie-Shanghai (B)
    Morning fly to Shanghai. Transfer to hotel. Free day.
    Accommodation: Best Western New Century Hotel Shanghai * * * * (or similar)

     

    Day 16: Shanghai-Home (B)
    Transfer to the airport for your return flight home.

    Remarks:

    • For traveling with Air Canada, once seat availability is confirmed, clients must have their tickets issued before the deadline set by the airline;
    • Child Rate (2-11 yrs): 80% of the adult fare sharing room with 2 adults, no extra bed.
