    22-day East China, Mt. Huangshan and Yangtze Cruise

     

    City: Shanghai-Cixi City-Hangzhou-Mt. Huangshan-Yixian-Wuyuan-Jingdezhen-Yichang/Jingzhou-Yangtze Cruise-Chongqing-Xi'an-Beijing

     

    Day 1: Depart Canada
    Start your tour by boarding an overnight flight to Beijing, cross the International Date Line.

     

    Day 2: Arrive Shanghai (D)
    Meet your guide upon arrival and transfer to hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure.

    Day 3: Shanghai-Cixi City-Hangzhou (BLD)
    Morning drive to Cixi City via Hangzhou Bay Bridge - the longest ocean-crossing bridge in the world, spanning across the Hangzhou Bay on the East China Sea and crossing the Qiantang River at the Yangtze River Delta, which is an important connection in China's East Coast Superhighway. Proceed to visit the ancient building complex in Cixi, and drive to Hangzhou in later afternoon.

    Day 4: Hangzhou-Mt. Huangshan (BLD)
    Today we enjoy a boat cruise on the West Lake - the symbol of Hangzhou - crammed full of interesting sceneries, and visit Viewing-fish-at-flower-harbor. Then, visit a local Longjing tea factory. Afternoon we drive to Hangshan.

    Day 5: Mt. Huangshan (BLD)
    Take Cable Car up to Mt. Huangshan (Yellow Mountain), and visit East Sea and North Sea scenic areas on the huangshan6mountain. Stay an overnight on top.

    Day 6: Mt. Huangshan (BLD)
    Visit West Sea and Mid Sea scenic areas on the mountain. Later afternoon take cable car down and drive to Huangshan City.

    Day 7: Huangshan-Yixian-Wuyuan-Jingdezhen (BLD)
    Driving from Huangshan city, first we visit Yixian County, a 2200 years old town, nicknamed as the ‘Home on Wonderland’, that is famed of green hills, clear streams and elegant dwelling houses; then visit Hongchun Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with more than 140 well- preserved ancient houses; then we drive to Wuyuan to see the most beautiful countryside in China and to visit the Rainbow Bridge - touted as the most yixianbeautiful covered bridge in the country, that stands as sturdy as ever and is used by the villagers every day though it was built 800 years ago during the Southern Song Dynasty. Later afternoon we drive to Jingdezhen.

    Day 8: Jingdezhen-Shanghai  (BLD)
    Morning visit the Sanlu Temple Old Street and the Pottery and Porcelain Exhibition Area where kinds of ancient kiln, workshop and buildings were moved here under protection since 1980. Later afternoon flight back Shanghai, transfer to the hotel.

    JingdezhenDay 9: Shanghai (BLD)
    Our sightseeing today begins with a walk on The Bund - a waterfront promenade famous for its landmark neoclassical buildings of European style. We then visit Shanghai Museum, Yuyuan Garden and the bazaar by Town-God Temple. Evening entertainment is a dazzling Acrobatic Show.

     

    Day 10: Shanghai-Yichang-Yangtze Cruise (BLD)
    Take morning flight to Yichang and immediately transfer to Jingzhou - a cultural ancient city with 2000 years history and one of the cradles of Chu Culture, and used to be the capital of the Chu State during the Spring and Autumn Period for 20 emperors. It is situated in the middle reaches of the Chang Jiang (Yangtze River), a strategic place of military importance since ancient times.
    Up arrival, we visit
    the Ancient City Wall first built since Qin Dynasty (221BC-206BC), and Jingzhou Museum and Relics of Three Kingdoms. Board your 5-star cruise ship, Princess Jeannie, Elaine or Sheena, and set sail in the evening.

    Day 11: Yangtze River Cruise (BLD)
    On your first day cruise up the Yangtze, you will enjoy kinds of cultural and entertainment programs such as Tai Chi and Calligraphy learning, lectures on Three Gorges Project, Crew Show, Dancing and Movies. A special Captain's Welcome Party tonight. 

     

    Day 12: Yangtze River Cruise (BLD)
    Passing through the ship-lock of Gezhou Dam in the morning, the ship sails into the Xiling Gorge - the longest one of the Three Gorges, where the water is full of turbulent currents, whirlpools and shoals. Have a shore excursion to visit the Three Gorges Dam and tour the Hydroelectric Plant up arrival at Sandouping, Pass through the ship-lock of Three Shibaozhai PagodaGorges Dam in the evening.

     

    Day 13: Yangtze River Cruise (BLD)
    We navigate the Shennongxi Stream on a small vessel to cruise up the tributary stream for a close-up view of the life of the local minority people. In the afternoon, we sail into the Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge: the Wu Gorge boasts the most immediate and spectacular scenery of the Three Gorges while the Qutang Gorge is the most powerful one with the rapidest water flows although it is the shortest one among the three. 


    Day 14: Yangtze River Cruise (BLD)
    Morning shore excursion to Wanxian City where you'll visit a relocated village, local market and the Wanxian Museum. The city has a history of over 1,500 years and is named Wanxian because tens of thousands of merchants gathered here to do business in the distant past.

    After breakfast, we disembark Chongqing - the largest and most populous of China's four provincial-level municipalities, called as Mountain City that was first found since 3,000 years ago. Chongqing evening scene is hailed as the ferly in China. We will have sightseeing of Chongqing Panda Zoo, Ci Qi Kou Old Street and People’s Square.
    Night program includes watching Night view of mountain city’ from Chaotianmen Square where you can also see the muddy, churning Yangtze meets the transparent Jialing River - a view of Joining of Two Rivers.

    Day 16: Chongqing-Xi'an (BLD)
    Morning fly to Xi’an - known as one of the most important cities in Chinese history, Xi'an is listed as one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China because it was the capital of 13 dynasties. Xi'an is also the eastern end of the Silk Road. Xi'an is home to the Terracotta Army designed to follow the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) into eternity. Upon arrival, visit Grand Tang Lotus Garden (Fu Rong Park) where you will see the biggest Tang Dynasty style city in the world and enjoy kinds of shows.

    Day 17: Xi’an (BLD)
    Today we visit the excavation site of the Terracotta Army located 30km east of the city. Followed by visiting the Shaanxi History Museum. Tonight you are entertained with the splendid Tang Dynasty Style Music and Dance Show after the Dumpling Banquet dinner.

     

    Day 18: Xi'an-Beijing (BLD)
    Morning city tour includes Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, the Ancient City Wall.
    Great WallTake afternoon flight to Beijing - the capital of China, is the second largest city in terms of population and recognized as the political, educational, and cultural center of China, while Shanghai and Hong Kong predominate in economic fields. Beijing is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China and once served as the capital for 5 dynasties over 800 years in ancient China. Transfer to hotel upon arrival.

    Day 19: Beijing (BLD)
    Today we first visit the Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world. From there you enter The Forbidden City to see the 250-acre complex of palaces, pavilions, courtyards and gardens. You are specially arranged with a visit to the Treasure House where stores rare and valuable collection of ancient art works inside the Forbidden City. Afternoon we visit to the Summer Palace, a royal resort during the Qing Dynasty. A delicious Peking Duck dinner is arranged to round off a memorable start to your tour.

    Day 20: Beijing (BLD)
    We drive 70km northwest of the city for a full-day excursion to the Great Wall, the world's longest man-made structure, stretching over 6,352 km (3,948 miles) from Shanhai Pass in the east to Lop Nur in the west, along an arc that roughly delineates the southern edge of Inner Mongolia. The Great Wall, said to be visible from the moon, was built between 5th century BC and the 17th century to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire during the rule of successive dynasties. After lunch, visit the Ming Tombs and the Sacred Path - 13 of the 16 Ming emperors have their lavish tombs here. On the way back we tour the 'Bird’s Nest' (Beijing National Stadium) and 'Water Cube' (Beijing National Aquatics Center) where hosted the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Kung Fu Show in the evening.
     

    Day 21: Beijing (BLD)
    Hutong TourMorning sightseeing at the Temple of Heaven. After lunch we tour Beijing Hutong by rickshaw to see traditional residential courtyards and visit Gongwang Fu (the Gongwang Mansion), one of the largest quadrangles in the world, and one of the best preserved royal palaces which have existed from Qing Dynasty so far.

     

    Day 22: Beijing-Home (B)
    Bid farewell as we transfer you to the airport for your return flight home.
